Overly-confident Jeeper gets stuck in a very bad spot.

Get a few mods and you can descend that hill easy

I saw this and immediately recognized it was in California because there is a dead ringer for that exact spot in GTA V that is also really hard to drive cars on.
Idiots gonna be idiots but when idiots with money gonna be idiots with money something expensive will get broken.

But... Who said they even could. This is clearly not a trail... What were they even doing there?

My guess is it becomes a target for vandalism and teen makeout parties, and winds up gutted, riddled with bullet holes, and covered in graffiti, with old beer cans and cast off bits of rusty sheet metal scattered around the area.
Or lifted off by California Army National Guard helicopter, either way.

There’s “legally can” and “technically can”. Definitely the latter, not the former.

Clearly, he couldn’t...

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
This must be a J eep thing, coz I don’t understand.

I’ve been tempted to run my dual sport motorcycle
on a few gnarly mtb trails, but I’d never take a 4 wheeled vehicle on single track. That’s just asking to get stuck.

The mods I have in mind pertain to the paint and body...

Jeep things. They were doing J eep things

Looks sharp, but I’m sticking with Jeep...probably. Maybe. Who knows.

Can’t ride my MTB without thinking how much more fun it would be on a dirtbike lol
![]() 09/23/2020 at 10:31 |

Take two: this is too much hubris. When I was in search and rescue years ago, I was told about people that would gear up at REI with all the high tech stuff and head out into the wilderness, over equipped and underprepared. Our person, here, is in that cohort. Jeep’s are amazing vehicles, it’s true, but you still need to know what you’re doing.

Fun observation, I find it more exhausting to moto through very technical trails vs MTBing them. Less cardio, more
brute strength.

Well, with these fires, I’d say we’re only two months away from winter rains and mudslides. The situation should self-resolve in a December mudslide.

Just back it up, reallll sloooow
![]() 09/23/2020 at 10:41 |

Yeah I wasn’t thinking about the technical areas, I was thinking more about the “if I could go faster this hill would be a jump” areas.

As a veteran of backing up out of dead ends, I can’t help but think that Jeeps should have a backup camera, reversed so that steering works somewhat naturally, projected on the windshield.
![]() 09/23/2020 at 10:43 |

well, I mean even technically. How do you go 10 feet down that path thinking - this is a thing that can be done.

Dude, patent that idea right now before some steals it
![]() 09/23/2020 at 10:46 |

That’s really not a bad idea.

What is this “legally” crap are you a cop
![]() 09/23/2020 at 10:46 |

This is pretty close to what I was thinking. Put a couple of charges under the left side. If they're just the right strength it'll get it to roll down the hill where it should be easier for the owner to collect what is left of it..

Basically a system like the Ford trailer back-up assisted but using the windshield instead of the backup camera screen.

“ When in doubt, throttle out”
“More skinny pedal”
“Watch this”
![]() 09/23/2020 at 10:52 |

That’s impressive. Not what I had in mind, because there’s no way I want a computer steering for me trying to escape that mess above, but for a trailer? Heck yeah.
![]() 09/23/2020 at 10:56 |

Oh wow. The photo you posted looks un comfortable but not THAT bad, probably because the elevation change in front of the Jeep makes it look like the trail was about to get wider . The photo from behind the Jeep is pretty terrifying.

From the overhead pic of the area, it seems like they might be able to anchor it to something an slowly winch it down the hill to the road below.
Whether that or a helicopter removal, I’d suggest they do it asap, because I suspect there are no shortage of people who’d be happy to teach the owner a lesson about driving where they shouldn’t by vandalizing it or giving it a push (though that might actually be a better outcome for the owner from an insurance standpoint).

That’s probably the cheapest that example will be. The days of a decent $4500 1980s Toyota 4x4 are long gone.

Charges? Nah man, a metal pole and a couple of good shoves and that thing is off to the races.

That’s actually pretty fucking bril li ant.

Looki ng at other pictures, if he backs out the front end will be forced down the hill , I think he has no choice but to continue forward.

I have to ride around a mountain park on my way to work. I’ve been very tempted to cruise through it on my moto.

Yeah, it's like when a friend of my brother's lost his license due to DUI and insisted that he could still drive anyway.

I once ran into Pinal County S&R pulling a couple of dudes out of the Superstition Mountains. We talked for a while and they said their most frequent customers were Boy Scouts, which I thought was pretty funny. I got into backpacking using old military surplus gear and MREs. The stuff lasts forever and forces you to pack light.

just because you can..... I don’ t think they could

Ok, we are talking Cali in a bad fire season so I suppose we should opt for your solution (which I’m sure would work, the way it’s sitting there I would not be surprised if a handful of muscular types couldn’t get it rolling with their bare hands..)

Admittedly, my backpacking trips have been all on trail, but one of my biggest fears was not dying, but being the dude on TV being airlifted out because I ran out of water.

Sometimes you get evac’d, and then almost die.
